My husband and I have lived in the Albany area since 1967.  We enjoy what the area has to offer and the proximity to Saratoga, the Bekshires, New York City and Boston.  I have retired as an analyst for the New York State DMV and am enjoying travel in this country and Europe.  We have been spending more time in the many beautiful areas of New York State (including the Finger Lakes area of our home town).  We have three married children.  Our older son has a two year old son and a one year old daughter.  We try to see them often, as they are a joy.  Our daughter is expecting a child (girl) in January.

Mona Carver Eddy
After I graduated from Bloomfield I went to work at Eastman Kodak. Mick and I were married in June of 1961. I became a stay at home mom when our first child was born. When I was 42 I returned to school attending Monroe Community College. By that time our children had finished high school and were in college so I had started working in the local school lunch program. I earned a degree in Food Service Administration. I found returning to school so rewarding as when I graduated from high school all I wanted to do was get a job, earn money and then get married. After graduating from MCC, I applied for the School Lunch Managers job and got it. It was an interesting challenging job and I liked it very much. I worked at the school for 16 years and qualified for a pension, which made it even better. We have traveled extensively in all of the mainland states and all the providences of Canada except New Foundland. Alaska was spectacular! We loved traveling in our RV. After Mick retired in 1991 from Kodak we traveled to Hawaii. What a paradise!

We’ve given up the motor home and now spend 4 months in the winter in Zephyrhills, Florida. We’re not far from Dave and Karen O’Brien and do see them while down there.

For our 40th anniversary we cruised the Mississippi on the Delta Queen from Memphis to New Orleans and then toured the city. Since then we’ve cruised to the Caribbean but really loved the Mississippi cruise so much more.

We’ve 2 sons, Don and Mike. They both make their livings in this technical world dealing with computers. They have blessed us with 5 grandchildren, 3 boys and 2 girls. Don lives in New Jersey and Mike lives north of Albany, NY. We love to travel to visit them and watch our grandchildren play in their sports. Both of our boys are Eagle Scouts and before this time next year our oldest grandson, Matt should have attained the rank of Eagle too.

Mick and I have been so blessed in that we’ve been able to see so much of our country, had no problems with our children, and have stayed healthy so that we’re able to enjoy our retirement. If any of you are in Bloomfield or Zephyrhills, FL.  Please touch base with us. Our Zephyrhills address is 4536 Hazelnut Lane. We’d love a visit with you.

Rita Cyphers Welsh
Albert and I have been married for 24 years.  I have 3 daughters, 3 stepdaughters and 2 stepsons.  When we married, we had all eight kids in one house; it was very interesting and confusing at times.  Now, we have 16 grandchildren and 2 7/9's great grandchildren.  We moved from Batavia, NY, 18 years ago to Mesa, AZ.  Three of our children have moved out here also.

Last year, I gave myself a birthday present; I retired on my 62nd birthday.  I worked at Medtronic Microelectronics Center for 17 years, first as a quality control inspector then as Area Coordinator in the Final Acceptance Group for 14 years.

My husband and I enjoy camping and have camped throughout the United States.  Last year, we were in New York for a grandson's wedding, and then we explored Civil War battlefields as we traveled south.  This year, we started at Mt. Rushmore, traveled parts of the Oregon Trail, Montana, Wyoming, and Yellowstone; then visited my brother in Idaho. After that we headed to the Redwoods in California and drove the coast highway.

My hobbies include cake decorating, crocheting, knitting, sewing, reading and of course, photography.

Carolyn Deuel Palmer
I am a retired RN.  I am blessed with four children and three grandchildren.  My special interests include my children, grandchildren and working at LDS Temple.

John Elle
Special Interests, I am active in the automotive hobby both in club activity local and national.  I do my own restoration and rebuilding and some for other people.  I own multiple American Motors Automobiles and have about 50 place trophies and attended over 100 shows at the national, regional and local levels.  I also do a little club racing.  I also am active in wood working activities where I build, repair and restore furniture (I have always had a love for antique furniture), and toys for my grandchildren and craft fairs.  I also build tools and display items used in crochet and soap making crafts.  I currently have been building high end partially carved rocking horses that have a 3 dimensional quality and I call them the Desert Wind series.  They are assembled and carved out of wood of various types and the manes and tails are carved as if in motion from the wind.  They approach the style of Carousel horses.

I share my life with Valerie Fleming and two dogs.  Sasha is a smooth hair Collie mix and Tara is a Stafford shire Terrie mix.  Both dogs are “pound dogs” and are great fun and company.  Valerie is my partner and my friend and is from Canada and we have a good life.  I visit with my grandchildren often as I can feel fortunate to have lived long enough to enjoy them.  My parents have passed on and my brother and sister live in Florida.

I have found that early retirement/disabled while not financially profitable, has given me the time to wonder how I ever had time during the day to go to work in the first place.

Melinda Ford Mason
I’m employed as an Office Manager.  I have two children.  My special interests include gardening, working out, reading, traveling and working with special ministry at church for people with mental and emotional issues.

Bill Fraser
I am married to the wonderful Yuzhen “Jane” Song,  from Tianjin, China, about 1 hour SE  from Beijin.  She came to the US on a scholarship to get her Masters Degree and then joined Northwest Airlines where she is Project Manager for developing pilot training software.  I have one son from a previous marriage and it seems like a few weeks ago that he was so tiny when he came home from the hospital.  Then after a few Happy Meals and a couple of Pizzas, he is suddenly 6’5” and 25 years old.

After High School I joined the US Navy and received computer training and was assigned to 1st the USS Alexander Hamilton SSBN 617 then on the USS Lafayette SSBN 616.  Both subs were nuclear powered and carried 16 nuclear warhead missiles.  After the navy I worked in the computer industry for several companies as Technician, National Support, International and Domestic Sales and software programmer.  Currently I’m semi-retired and do computer sales and website design.

My interests include, Travel, Web Design, Sports, Gardening and Cooking. I have been fortunate to have visited every continent except for the Antarctic and all but one of the states in the US.  Much of the travel was for business, but in recent years it’s been for pleasure. Recent trips include China, Alaska, Jamaica, Mexico, Rome, Venice and Paris. Jane and I publish a picture page for each of our trips on www.janesong.homestead.com. From my travels I’ve collected recipes that I’ve tested, modified and published on www.chefbill.homestead.com.

At the end of April 2005, we had a wonderful visit with John & Valerie Elle in Phoenix.  I have been exchanging email with Bill Gillette in Denver and Guy Hawkins in Chicago and hope to visit each.  If anyone visits Minnesota, please give us a call and you will be treated with some famous Minnesota hospitality.

Nancy Fuller DeMetsenaere

Bill Gillette
I live just out side of Denver and work for an Auto Wholesaler.  I’ve been happily married to Cathy for 35 years and we don't have any kids. I left Bloomfield after graduation from high school, to join the US Navy, I served on two diesel submarines, the USS Halfbeak SS352 and the USS Corporal SS346.  After the navy I came west, stopped in Denver and just stayed.

Guy Hawkins
I came to Chicago in 1964 after I graduated from Parson's College in Fairfield, Iowa.  At the time I was engaged to my wife who was born and raised in Berwyn and Cicero, Illinois.  We were married in August of 1965.  Since then we had three children.  They are now grown with the two girls being 34 and 30 and my son 23.  Both of my girls are married and the 34 year old has one son.  She is living in Louisville, KY and works for the Louisville Water Department.  The 30 year old is also married and is currently pregnant with her first child.  She lives in East Peoria, Illinois and works for an Elder Abuse agency called Senior Strength.  My son (23)just graduated from the University of Illinois where he majored in Aeronautical and Aerospace Engineering.  He got engaged soon after his graduation and is planning a wedding for November of next year.  He is currently working on his Master's in Aerospace Engineering and working as a Teaching Assistant as well as a grader for another professor.

I got my Master's in Social Work in 1970 and have been working in the social work field ever since.  I have worked for a school system a Children's Psychiatric Hospital, and outpatient clinic, in private practice and several private psychiatric hospitals.  I am currently working at a Hospital called Riveredge Hospital in Forest Park, Illinois.  My wife, Melody, and I will have been married 40 years next August.  She is a teacher with a Master's Degree in Reading and specializes in teaching reading to kids who are behind.

I now live in Berwyn, Illinois.  It is a suburb just west of downtown Chicago (about 10 miles).  We keep talking about moving but so far it has not happened.  There are many disadvantages to where we live but being close to the city is a great benefit.  Last year we inherited a double wide trailer home in Florida so we spend most of our vacation time there.  Right now with both my wife and I working we do not have much chance to get down there for any extended period of time.  We are planning to leave for there right after Christmas and be gone for a week.  Retirement has been an issue that has been discussed but not yet implemented.  We are trying to wait another three years so that my wife will be able to draw a teacher's pension of half her salary at the time she retires.  I won't get much in the way of retirement funds - only social security.  That is one of the draw backs of trying to raise and send three kids to school on one salary.  My wife was away from teaching most of the time the kids were growing up.

Dan and I have not experienced the joy of grand parenting as many of you have so I will tell you a little about our three children.  We are not completely empty nesters and I’m not in a hurry to have it happen.  I must admit I have loved being a mom and all that it entails and will certainly miss the special times we’ve had together as a family.  The children are all blessed with musical talents and to our delight enjoy using those talents.  Nathan will soon record his first professional CD.  Kenan’s real passion is love of history.  He also enjoys music, plays a little piano, and has recently started drum lessons.  Sarah plays violin and occasionally sings with Nathan.  She is a sophomore at Belhaven College in Jackson, MS majoring in dance.

In two years Dan will be eligible for retirement from Delphi Automotive.  His favorite pastime is playing golf, and he’s good!  I taught nursery school at GCCS in Geneseo for four years.  In September I started my second year as an assistant teacher at Little Lambs Nursery School in Lima, NY.  I’ve loved working with three and four year olds.  They’re so excited to learn and experience life.  Their thoughts and expressions are priceless.

Reflecting upon the last forty-five years, I am awed by God’s faithfulness.  His blessings have been abundant.  He has been there in the good times and sustained me through sorrow and tragedy.
